What events do gymnasts from Adamo participate in? Here’s a guide to help!

Adamo Snowflake Show

  • Who Attends?
    • All gymnasts!
  • What’s it all about?
    • This is everyone’s first performance of the year, and a time to show off all that we’ve learned so far!
    • It is a fun show that everyone is invited to attend!
    • Following our performance we will enjoy a social time with goodies brought by the families!
  • Date:  Friday, December 8th, 2018

Adamo Year End Gala

  • Who Attends?
    • All gymnasts!
  • What’s it all about?
    • Our year culminates in one big performance with all of our gymnasts.
    • Groups will perform all of their routines, and Rhythm Cat gymnasts (individual) will perform one or more of their solo routines.
    • Every group will participate in our Adamo “Theme” portion of the program, which is different every year! In the past we have acted out stories, like Peter Pan and Cinderella, created a musical, danced through the decades, taken a trip to the circus, and explored our imaginations. You’ll have to wait to see what we come up with this year!
  • Date: Thursday, May 17th, 2018 – Our 10th Anniversary Celebration!

Northern Gala

  • Who Attends?
    • Our Performance Level groups: Joy, Dream, Inspire & Lux
  • What’s it all about?
    • The first “big” show of the season is held in Warman, SK.
    • Gymnasts from clubs across the province attend to put on a 2 hour long performance to share their routines with everyone!
    • The day consists of practices for teams, mass routine practices, and then a show. The show is usually at about 3:00pm and goes until 5:00pm.
    • Families are responsible for their own travel and accommodations. Many families travel together! Some go up for the day, and some choose to make a weekend trip of it; it’s up to you!
  • Date: Late March 2018

  • Who Attends?
    • Our Performance Level groups: Joy, Dream, Inspire
  • What’s it all about?
    • This event is held in Regina
    • This is an adjudicated event where teams will receive feedback from rhythmic gymnastics and dance experts
    • Teams are evaluated in different age categories and a “winner” is selected for each category. Special awards are also given to teams for other high quality performances.
    • The adjudicated portion takes place just after noon.
    • An evening gala is also held where teams will perform again. Some groups perform different routines from the afternoon portion.
  • Date: First Saturday in May

Provincial Gymnaestrada

  • Who Attends?
    • Our Performance Level groups: Joy, Dream, Inspire & Lux
  • What’s it all about?
    • This one or two-day event incorporates fun workshops and activities with gymnastics performances.
    • Gymnasts attend workshops to enhance their gymnastics in things like yoga, Zumba, apparatus skills, flexibility, or acrobatics (the workshops vary each year)
    • A late afternoon or early evening performance will showcase the fun, creativity and talent of gymnasts of all ages from across the province, and in many different gymnastics disciplines.
  • Date: End of May 2018
  • Location: TBA

Canadian Gymnaestrada

  • Who Attends?
    • Our Gymnaestrada Team: Lux
  • What’s it all about?
    • This event is held every 4 years to showcase gymnastics across Canada.
    • This four-day event incorporates fun workshops and activities with gymnastics performances and sightseeing.
    • Gymnasts attend workshops to enhance their gymnastics in things like yoga, Zumba, apparatus skills, flexibility, or acrobatics (the workshops vary each year)
    • Many different types of performances (both indoors and outdoors, will showcase the fun, creativity and talent of gymnasts of all ages from across the country, and in many different gymnastics disciplines. Gymnasts will perform in a minimum of 4 performances, and watch a lot of performances throughout the festival
  • Date: Canada Day long weekend 2018
  • Location: Richmond, BC

World Gymnaestrada

  • Who Attends?
    • Our Gymnaestrada Team: Lux
      • ****At this stage, gymnasts audition for Team Saskatchewan Gymnaestrada. Auditions will take place in May 2017. Gymnasts must be part of the Lux Gymnaestrada team in order to audition for the TSG.****
  • What’s it all about?
    • This event is held every 4 years to showcase gymnastics across Canada.
    • This four day event incorporates fun workshops and activities with gymnastics performances and sightseeing.
    • Gymnasts attend workshops to enhance their gymnastics in things like yoga, Zumba, apparatus skills, flexibility, or acrobatics (the workshops vary each year)
    • Many different types of performances (both indoors and outdoors, will showcase the fun, creativity and talent of gymnasts of all ages from across the country, and in many different gymnastics disciplines. Gymnasts will perform in a minimum of 4 performances, and watch a lot of performances throughout the festival
  • Date: July 7-13, 2019 (Team will travel from approximately July 4-14)

Rhythm Cat Events

Gymnasts are welcome to attend one or all of the Rhythm Cats events put on in the province!

  • Ritmo Invitational – early February
  • Wascana Invitational – early March
  • Northern Catz – end of March
  • Provincial Rhythm Cat Challenge – early May

All Rhythm Cat events run in a similar fashion:

  • There are practice/warm-up times prior to the competition.
  • Competition is a low-stress environment, with a lot of team camaraderie and coach support.
  • Athletes perform 2 individual routines and one group routine (if applicable).
  • Awards are given at the end of the competition for gymnasts’ personal scores and overall performances. All gymnasts are awarded ribbons and medals for their performances!
